Pitched roof

The pitched roof or sloping roof, is a roof with two slopes that down at an angle from a ridge at the sides of the house, although sometimes it only has a slope, where the ridge is on one of the edges and the slope down to the opposite.

A sloping roof is recognized in contrast to a flat roof, which would be any roof with a slope of less than 10 °.

Depending on the slope, the environmental conditions, the desired aesthetics, the architectural style and the number of sloping surfaces, the following types of sloping roof are counted.

  • Mono-Pitch Roof
  • Double-Pitch Roof
  • Couple Roof
  • Couple Close Roof
  • Beam Roof Necklace
  • Slant Roof
  • Purlin Roof
  • King Post Roof

They all share similarities and only some very specific differences. For example, the “slant roof” consists of two single-pitched roofs, one higher than the other; or the “purlin roof”, which is a gable roof so low in height that it can pass through a flat roof.
